I was finally able to make it back to Echo OR. As I recall my first trip in 09 aboard a full rigid single speed was rough. Really rough. So this go around, in an effort to redeem myself, I decided to forgo the super plush, Trek Superfly 100 with lots of really nice gears, and run the Gary Fisher Rig single speed. And I can say that this time around did not hurt as bad… at first. I have a pretty good idea of where I stand in the echelon of fast guys (surprisingly low). I make no effort to fool anyone (myself included) into believing otherwise. In other words, I just try to ride my own race and not worry about keeping up with Barry Wicks or Logan Wetzel. After approximately 2 hours of “riding my own race” I had apparently hit my limit and for lack of better words was done. I spent the next 39 minutes wishing I was somewhere else, like at Ross with my wife, or a Turkish Prison. After it was all said and done I managed 10th out of 50 single speeders, right behind my buddy Matt Polard who was actually pedaling one legged because of leg cramps. Somehow even with two legs I was still slower. As bad as it may sound I sort of enjoyed it and I’m glad I went. My hats off to Shayne Myers and crew for a great race.
Nice video! (I am jealous of the GoPro)
Oh yeah, it’s cool! The only problem is as soon as I got it they came out with the HD Hero 2. Dang ever-improving technology, I was almost hip and with it.
I feel cheated that I missed the water part!!!
Not really, nice video!
Awesome vid! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
