Workin’ it

I hear it often.  “Thank you so much for doing this.”  I assume that means all the work that goes into creating an event.  And  to be real about it… there is times when it does feel like work.  Like when I have to get up at 5 am to see if my course markings survived the night.  Or miss the better part of cross season planning the 2013 season.  Okay, so other than the missing out on cross part (which does suck, especially since I got a new cross bike this year) planning the 2013 season has been pretty awesome.  I travel to awesome places, to ride with awesome people, AND tell my wife I’m “working.”  All of the hard work is near complete though, and we hope to have a 2013 schedule out very SOON!

  1. Hi Jake.
I moved to the Pacific NW about 6 months ago and it looks like you put on some great events. I have read nothing but good things about your races. Coming from Utah, and the mountain bike series that are there, I am glad to see that you are spearheading this type of effort to put on some top notch events.
I started Kitsap Racing for this next season and can’t wait to participate in some of your events. Not sure how many team members I might have but will promote the cuss out of your races to the team, an beyond.
It’s people like you that truly embody the sport of mountain biking, and even though I haven’t been in any of your races, yet, thanks for all that you do, in advance.
    See you in the dirt!

  2. Looks like a great line-up. One small suggestion. Can we get three weeks in-between races instead of two? I mean, I went mountain biking today! I have never understood why the northwest cycling community feels the need to be finished in July? August and september are great months! And to be honest, for those of us that want to race all the event, a race every two weeks for an 8 race series does not allow for any recovery or growth. We have to be 100% in shape at the start of the season, and really would need to skip one race to factor in a recover week. Just my 2 cents….

  3. Hi Jake, my husband and I live in Vancouver BC and we’ve been racing in WA for years. We were sad to see the Indie series disolve, but so glad to see the new FTR Series. We were out of the area last season, so missed racing the series, but we’re looking forward to 2013 and hope to bring more Canuck friends with us. Just wondering . . . any plans to add races on the west side of the mountains? We raced at Dry Hill in Port Angeles a few years ago, and those downhill guys put on an awesome XC event. Any chance of a race out there?
Thanks so much for all your work!

    1. Hey Gail, our original “mission” was to have an East meets West thing where it all goes down in the middle. Adding to that theme for 2013 we’re getting a Spokane round as well as Greenwater. I almost consider Roslyn and Thorp Westside too considering they’re closer to Seattle than Greenwater (or Port Angeles). That said we would like to see a few more Westside events in the future. In the meantime rally your crew, we love you crazy Cunucks hey, can’t wait!
