Bavarian Bike and Brews
June 7, 2014
Gibbs Organic Farm
The one and only Bavarian Bike and Brew Festival is Round 4 of the Fat Tire Revolution! Yeah, we’re pretty excited too.
UPDATE: This year as many of you know Freund Canyon is being logged. Because of this we will be running the course backwards. “Dnuerf” (Fruend backwards) if you will. The course is the same 8.6 mile loop and 1700 vertical gain but unfortunately the first half will be riding up a dirt road due to the logging. The views are still spectacular, even more so now that it is so open. Then riders will come down singletrack (what was previously the uphill singletrack) Cat 3 will do one lap, Cat 2 two laps, and Cat 1 / pro three laps. The finish line will be the same. Check in /registration will be by the finish line, same as it was last year. You must check in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your race. We are doing packet pick up the night before at Uncle Uli’s. This year every registered rider will have a choice of event T-shirt or event Nalgene style water bottle. This will be on a first-come first-served basis. We appreciate everyone sticking with us through this time that they are logging. We hope to have the trail back to you next year even better than ever! Please do not pre-ride the course midweek as this is when they are logging. Weekends are fine and Friday June 6th it is ok to pre-ride the course. Thank you.
On site camping is $5.00/ head out at Gibbs Organic Farm. Please leash pets and respect farm animals.
And did we mention the brew part?? Camping on site?? Music?? Sunshine??
Please Note: Bike & Brews is PRE-REGISTRATION only and limited to 450! This event fills up, so don’t delay!
9:00 am Cat 3 – 1 lap
10:30 am Cat 2 – 2 laps
12:30 pm Cat 1/Pro – 3 laps
There will inevitably be some cancelations and no-shows by Friday or Saturday morning. Bribery, beers, massages, and generally being ridiculously kind to the volunteers and race officials could get you into the race if you failed to find the internet in the months prior. Lay it on thick and come bearing gifts.
Directions to race
Freund Canyon -From Highway 2 turn onto Chumstick highway (this is a left turn if you are coming from Stevens Pass, right if you are coming from Blewitt Pass). Turn left onto Freund Canyon road (about 1-1.5 miles out Chumstick highway, if you go under the railroad track you have gone too far). Parking is on the right hand side of the road. On foot, by bike, or free shuttle provided, go to where the pavement ends and take a left. You will see the packet pick up table, beer garden etc.
Race packets will be available Friday night from 7-8:30 at Uncle Uli’s Pub in Leavenworth.
